Suck on This: Reusable Drinking Straws
I’m a pretty good little environmentalist. I don’t buy bottled water, I use a travel mug for my morning tea, but straws? that’s where I get wasteful.
Plastic straws are meant to be disposable (have you ever tried to clean one?), they often aren’t accepted for recycling, but they’re so readily available and sometimes inconvenient to do without. Plus, I honestly like drinking from a straw more than drinking straight from the cup.
Good thing plastic straws, although popular and plentiful, aren’t the only option. Check out these three eco-friendly alternatives.

Glass Straws: GlassDharma, the creator of the “original glass straw,” offers three distinctive straw styles, all handmade in the United States and backed by a lifetime guarantee against breakage. Straws start at $6 each, and if you want to try before you buy, take advantage of their Earth Month special, where they’re giving away one free straw per person all April long, available while supplies last.
Bamboo Straws: Available on Amazon, these biodegradable 10 inch straws are made from natural bamboo and can be reused over and over again. Set of 12 for $6.79
Stainless Steel Straws: Long lasting and dishwasher safe, these 18/10 stainless steel straws are a fun addition to any cocktail. Set of 4 for $11.99 on Amazon.
