5 Ways to Be a Greener Lover
Recycle Your Sex Toys: It’s common knowledge that recycling electronic and battery operated items is better for the planet, but what about broken or unwanted sex toys? As part of their Green Business Partnership, sex toy seller Dreamscapes runs a sex toy recycling program where you send in your toys and they properly dispose of them. But that’s not all! In addition to recycling your toys, Dreamscapes will also send you a $10 e-gift card to one of it’s online retail sites.
Properly Dispose of Condoms: So you practice safe sex- rock on! Just be careful what you do with those condoms once you’re done being safely sexy. Never flush them down the toilet (clogs plumbing, pollutes our waterways, and can result in somebody having to pull them out during sewage treatment). Most condoms made from latex and lambskin are biodegradable, but those made with polyurethane (a type of plastic) aren’t. The best way to dispose of them is in a trash can (considerately wrapped in tissue, of course), along with your regular garbage.
Use Organic Lubricant: The people over at Good Clean Love, an approved Coop America Green Company, offer a wide range of intimate products aimed at “making love sustainable.” One of their most popular products, organic personal lubricants, are made without the use of petrochemicals and parabens (potential carcinogens found in many drug store brands) and are “certified orgasmic.”
Try Bamboo Bedsheets: Bamboo, a quickly renewable resource that doesn’t require pesticides to grow, can make your bedroom fun a little more sustainable. Sheets made from 100% bamboo yarn are soft, all natural, hypo-allergenic, and bacteria resistant.
Have a Greener Adult Party: Ever heard of a Passion Party? Well, those famous in-home adult toy parties now have a saucy green counterpart. Earth Erotics Parties bring you an evening that combines sexuality, natural health, and environmentalism. For a peek into the party, check out this video clip from Discovery Network’s Planet Green and learn about products such as the Eco Flogger, made from recycled inner tubes “for compassionate spanking.”
